Privacy
Culpeos sets no tracking cookies, runs no third-party analytics, and shows no ads. This page lists everything we store on your device and everything we record about your visit.
Cookies we set
All three are first-party, are needed for something you asked for, and are never used to track you between sites.
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| _ido_key | Keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. | When you close the browser |
| _ido_web_user_remember_me | Keeps you signed in between visits. Only set if you tick "remember me" when logging in. | 60 days |
| element_group | Remembers how you chose to group your list of ideas. | 1 year |
We also keep one value in your browser's local storage, filtersVisible, which remembers whether you left the filter panel open.
What we record about a visit
We count page views so we can see which parts of the site get used. Each request is logged with the page address, whether it worked, how long it took, whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop, and the domain of the site that linked you here.
We do not record your IP address, your browser's user-agent, or any identifier, and nothing ties one request to another. There is no way for us to pick you out of these logs, which is why there is nothing here to opt out of. They are deleted after a year.
Other services your browser contacts
Some parts of the site load content from other companies. Doing so reveals your IP address to them, the same as visiting any website does. None of them are loaded unless you use the feature that needs them.
- MapTiler (Switzerland) serves the map tiles, when you look at a map.
- jsDelivr serves the emoji list, when you open the emoji picker.
- Cloudinary, Unsplash, Wikimedia and Amazon S3 serve photos attached to trips and ideas.
- TikTok loads a video player, but only after you click "Load video" on a TikTok link. TikTok sets its own cookies and tracks you once you do — that is why we make you ask for it rather than loading it for you.
Your account
If you register, we store your email address, your password as a cryptographic hash, your language preference, and whatever trips and ideas you create. Your email is used to sign you in and to send you things you asked for, such as trip invitations. We do not sell it or send marketing.
You can ask for a copy of your data or have your account deleted by writing to us; we will action it within 30 days.
